Sunday Favorites (two days late!)

I've never been really good with deadlines, or getting anything done on time.

So here are this weeks Sunday favorites, only two days late!

1. Pretty magazines!

I have so many magazines around my desk.

Wedding and home decor magazines are my favorite.

They are the perfect source for inspiration when I am feeling stuck!

2. My desk

I love my bright yellow desk, and aqua and white chevron chair!

It's the perfect little area for emailing, editing, and trying to get stuff done.

I also always have fresh flowers and a candle lit when I'm sitting there!

3. Me time!

I love spending time alone. Sometimes all I need to make me feel better is a cup of coffee,

my journal, and the bible! It's the perfect thing to clear my head, or kick me out of a bad mood.

4. My new website!

I'm SO ready to be done with my new website design.

I love it SO much because it's so ME! It's taking a long time, but I know it's worth it.

5. This video/song!

My dear friend Sarah posted this video on facebook the other day.

Such a beautiful song and video. I checked out the rest of their music and they are SO talented!

One of my New Years resolutions is to blog more!

Not only photoshoots, but also personal stuff.

Sundays will be for sharing a few of my recent favorite things!

1. 7 year pens!

I love pens, and have multiple mason jars full of them.

I love the one this one writes, and the glasses on it!

2. "Safe & Sound" by Taylor Swift feat. The Civil Wars

I LOVE The Civil Wars, and was excited to hear them work with Taylor Swift.

It's such a pretty song.

3. Home decor

I'm planning on redoing my bedroom + office/craft room/guest room soon.

I'm constantly changing them. I'm also obsessed with looking at others home decor on pinterest.

4. Family time!

I've been getting to spend a lot of time with my family lately, because of the holidays.

I love when the house is full, and never quiet. I miss them terribly when they are gone,

but feel blessed to have such a wonderful family.

5. The future of Emmy Lou Photography!

I'm finishing up my new and improved website! New packages, new images,

new opportunities for my business. I'm so excited to show off the new website!

Beth + Kevin (part 1) | Wedding Photography

Last month I had the privilege of shooting Beth and Kevins wedding.

I could NOT have asked for a better couple. Beth was a very relaxed bride, and Kevin was THE happiest groom I have ever met! It also helped that they had a wonderful wedding planner, Stephanie,

who pulled all the details together to make a small, intimate wedding.

I picked so many favorites, that I'm going to have to divide them up into different parts.

Here is part one. Beth got ready at The Cottage, which is the cutest/most intimate little inn. It's a beautiful house, filled with white and pale pink decor. Shabby chic, relaxing, and private! I wish I could live there.

Today I had coffee, went exploring and did a quick little photoshoot with an old friend of mine.

I love catching up with people, and feeling like we haven't spent so much time apart.

I wanted to share a peak at some of them, because she is so gorgeous!

Thank you, Joan, for being up for anything! I love people who have no problems jumping fences, driving to the middle of nowhere, or going in creepy buildings just for a good photograph.

Katie and Mark celebrated their special day in the adorable Historic Fire station in downtown Ruston, LA. When I met up with Katie to talk about taking pictures for her, she told me she for sure wanted pictures of all of the decor, seeing as how it was all DIY. Their wedding was ADORABLE, filled with beautiful fiesta ware, handmade details, and yummy food + desserts cooked by family members!

Presley | Pet Portraits

Meet Presley!

Presley is a 8 week old bloodhound puppy. My best friend, Kristina, was in town visiting from Georgia, and she picked up this little guy. His big ears and giant paws KILL me! He's the cutest thing ever.

I couldn't resist doing a shoot with them, so here's a few that I took!

We took Presley to get puppy ice cream, and he got it ALL over his ears and face! So precious.

Roux | Pet Portraits

Here's a sneak peak at some pictures I took of the newest member of my sisters family!

Roux (pronounced Roo) is an adorable golden retriever border collie mix! My sister and her husband just adopted her, and I am in LOVE! She's the sweetest puppy ever, and is sooo calm! She's also photogenic, but doesn't like to stay for the camera just yet. We'll be working on that ;)

Hello, hello, hello!

With Spring rolling in, I knew I wanted to do some spring cleaning and redo my ENTIRE branding + website! I'm SO excited about it, so I decided to share just a little peak! I loooooooove my new logo! I think it's bright, fun, but most importantly, it's so ME!

Pretty soon I'll have my website completely redone, with brand new updated galleries. I'll also have a pretty new blog design, new packaging, new everything!!!! I'm SOOO excited!

Hello, hello, hello!

I figured I'd drop in and share this pretty picture with you!

Vintage cake plate + gorgeous wedding ring = perfection! My cousin Katie, who you often see on my blog, is engaged. This is her stunning wedding ring! I absolutely can't wait for her wedding, and am so happy for her and her hubbie to be, Matthew!

My new logo is done, website is half way done, and I absolutely can NOT wait to share it with you all!

Hello Sweethearts!

I hope you have had a greeeeeat weekend, and are looking forward to starting the week off right!

I'm a fan of Valentines day, even if I don't have a real Valentine. Why spend the day being bitter?

Buy yourself a gift, buy something for your best friend, or make cupcakes for your coworkers!

(I've done all three this year!) It's a special day, so show someone that you care!

Emmy Lou Photography is getting a makeover!

Hi y'all!

I just wanted to let everyone know that we are getting a COMPLETE makeover! While the website and blog are still available for viewing, I will soon be launching a new website! It will have updated galleries, including a wedding gallery, and a brand new style! Both the website, and the blog will portray my personality much more! I want it to feel like you know me, just by looking at my websites.

Spring Style

Spring is right around the corner (or atleast I hope so!), and that means it's time for photoshoots! I decided to show y'all a couple of my current favorites. I chose all of these items because they would photograph well/add a lot to the shoot! Who wants the boring ole white tshirt and khaki shorts in their shoot? Your outfit helps show WHO you are through your photographs!

For me, Spring means DRESSES! I love dresses SO much, and own way too many.

But I can't help it! I'd choose a dress over jeans any day.

1. I LOVE this dress! It's simple, but SO adorable. I picked all of these dresses because they would photograph well. I think that this pink/coralish color makes everyone look tan. It could be made casual with some sandals, or dress it up with heels and a fascinator!

2. I love polka dots! I'd pair this dress with heels, red lipstick, and simple eye makeup for a pin up look. It would also be fun paired with a cute colored cardigan. When picking your outfits for photoshoots always bring extra stuff. Change your cardigan, add a hat, and it changes the whole photo!

3. I need this dress. I've been swooning after it for awhile now. Pair it with cowboy boots for a fun country look, or add a belt and some flats for another adorable look!

1. Hats are SO fun! They photograph well, pretty much everyone looks adorable, and they are easy to take on and off for different looks. I love this grey fedora so much!

2. Scarfs! Lord knows I own WAY too many! But they are such a great accessory. They can change a plain tee and jeans from boring, to cute in seconds!

6. SHOES! I love photographing shoes. I think the shoe a person picks shows so much about the kind of person they are. I'd probably break my neck in these, but I just love the little bow! Bringing multiple pairs of shoes with you to your shoot is a great idea. One killer pair of shoes can take the whole shoot from good to great!

All items pictured above are from Ruche. I love this store! But my wallet doesn't, because I want to buy every item that they have! It's affordable though, and they always have cute new arrivals!

I hope everyone is having a LOVELY Friday! I'm super excited to blog these photographs.

Last month I got to work with the oh so lovely Katie of Lemon Jitters, and the amazing crocheted products featured in this shoot are from Soft Spoken.

Can I just say how beautiful these products are? They are soft, comfy, warm, and super

duper adorable! I knit myself, so I always said that I would never ever buy these kind of things.

But after seeing the quality of these items, and feeling them, I would buy them in a heartbeat! I was so excited to be able to shoot them! I love collaborating with other people, so I had such a blast doing this!

Diane | Portrait Sneak Peak

Here's a sneak peak at a recent shoot I had with Diane!

Diane is a stunning mother of three boys! One of those being my wonderful brother in law, Austin.

She asked me to take some pictures of her and the boys, and while we were waiting on them,

we slipped in a session of just her. Diane is SO photogenic, and made me job so easy.

I think it's really important to have just "you" time, and to get portraits done of yourself.

So this is the New Year...

I spent my New Years weekend working at camp. It got me really excited for 2011. The past year I have changed so much, and I know that I will continue changing. God is using me, and my photography to touch peoples lives in ways that I could have never dreamed of. I am so blessed to not only have the talents that I do, but to call this a job. I give all the credit to Him.

I have so many plans and dreams for this year, and can't wait to mark them off my list as I achieve them. I can't wait to see what happens, and how not only my business grows in this next year, but also how much I grow and change.

So here's to the New Year! Thank you all for being a part of my life. I am truly thankful for everyone I have met, and have yet to meet. I love all of you, and I hope that you have the best year yet!

Christmas day

Hello lovelies!

I hope you had a super awesome (and warm) Christmas! I, of course, spent the day with my family. I'm lucky to have an awesome, unbelievably hilarious, close family. I ate until I couldn't eat another bite, and then ate some more, watched Elf and A Christmas Story way too many times, and played with the pups.

Here's a peak into my Christmas day! We spent the day at my Aunt and Uncles new home. It's decorated OH so cute, and they prepared the yuuuuuuummiest food! I brought eggnog truffles and decorated sugar cookies. It was a great day, and I couldn't ask for a better family.

Hipp Family | Portraits

A week or so ago I did a shoot with The Hipp family. We took some of all the grandkids, which I blogged earlier, but then I took some of just these three! Thanksgiving | Personal portraits

The week of Thanksgiving I headed to Georgia to spend time with my Dads family and my best friend. I had SUCH a great time, and got to relax and see the ones that I love. I got to spend time with my best friend and second mom, see my niece who is growing up crazy fast, and eat tons of delicious food! I decided to share a few pictures that I took while I was there...

Me, myself, and I

Hello, hello, hello! :)
Earlier this month I headed to Chicago to hang out & help the wonderful Sarah with a wedding. I had SUCH a great time! I got to see her super silly self, meet the beautiful Kristen Booth, and also meet the oh so wonderful Barlow family. I was so blessed by this trip, and came home feeling inspired and relaxed!

While I was there we decided to spend some time shooting each other! Here are some of the photos that Sarah shot of me. I LOVE these pictures! I feel like they really capture who I am. I am so thankful for them, and for my friendship with her.

To anyone who is insecure, self conscious, or just scared of having their picture made. Don't be! In the end the photos are SO worth it, and photographers will capture your true beauty!

Sarah, you are such an amazing and talented person. Thank you for teaching me, for constantly laughing with me, for dealing with my extremely crazy & loud self, and for being a part of my life. Your friendship is a true blessing.

Sneak peak | Ava

Right now I am sitting in the Detroit airport bored out of my mind. For some reason I have the worst of luck with airports. My connecting flights always leave right as my other flight is landing. So, I'll be here for a couple more hours, and then getting home six hours later than planned.

Fall is coming!!! It is my absolute favorite season. Something about it inspires me SO much. It makes me want to pick up my camera, and craft every single day. I love the changing of the leaves, the street being surrounded by so many different colors, scarfs, boots, tights, and pumpkin spice lattes! Now if only Louisiana would realize it's not supposed to be in the mid 90's in late September.

I spend a lot of time, probably too much time, looking at things on Etsy. It's very dangerous to your bank account, but it's worth it most of the time. This year I'm going to try and hand make every Christmas present I give, and if I can't do them all, atleast buy handmade.

Roadtrip

Took a little road trip to Nashville with my sister last week. It was nice, but I wish I could have stayed longer. I LOVE Nashville, and plan on living there as soon as possible. Here's a few photos from our trip, more to come!

Sometimes I have a really hard time finding inspiration, but sometimes it just comes to me naturally. I figured that I'd share a list of blogs that inspire me daily, and a few photographs too.

The Wheaties!

Yesterday I met up with Emily&Kaitlyn to take some portraits of them. I've known Emily for awhile because we went to church together awhile back. But I haven't seen either of them in a few years. It was nice to catch up! These two are SO funny! They kept me laughing the entire time. Here's some of my favorites from the shoot.

Emily found this little rolly polly on the ground! He was such a little rebel, wouldn't curl up in a ball at all! Even when she poked him.

I blogged a little while back about my sisters dogs, Mac and Roxy. I consider them my niece and nephew. Anyone who has dogs knows what a huge roll they play in families. Unfortunately, my sister and her husband had to get rid of Mac. He was abused before they adopted him, and unfortunately isn't over it yet. He needs a family where he is the only dog, and has someone who can pay tons of attention to only him. It breaks my heart, but they definitely did what was right.

Mac, I pray that you find your forever home soon. I know you will! You are SUCH a sweet, loving, and fluffy pup! I'm going to miss cuddling you, taking a million photos of you, and the way your top lip curls up on one side. I know you're going to be happy, and that's all that we could ask for! I love you so much.

Mac&Roxy - Pet Portraits

Mac and Roxy are my "nephew and niece". My sister and her husband live in south Louisiana right now, so I don't get to see them very often. They were up for the weekend and we watched their dogs for them! I snapped a few photos while we were in the backyard soaking up the sun and enjoying the beautiful spring weather!

Here's a few that I loved! I think they are both super adorable and love spending time with them.

Mac is the fluffiest dog ever! He loves attention, being petted, and slobbering all over me! hahaha. He also has SUPER pretty eyes are you can kind of see here.

They've had Roxy the longest. She was a teeny tiny pup once! She's fun to watch run around the yard, well... it's more of a gallop :P She is also the biggest cuddle bug ever!

Sarah Barlows friend Brian had just gotten this adorable baby french bulldog and I was lucky enough to snap a few of her! She is probably the cutest puppy I've ever seen in my life.

Okay, maybe not your usual favorite memory, but it's a pretty dang funny story. When I was younger my dad told me where the "prize" Easter egg was. You'd think it was money, right? or some really yummy candy. WRONG! It was a paper towel, underneath it was a LIVE crawfish. I was scared of crawfish from then until I was about 13. My siblings used to torture me and chase me around the house with them when we would eat them.

Best friend

Shamri is the absolute best friend that I could have ever asked for. I know everyone and their mother says that, but it's true. We've been friends for FIVE years now, and even though we live eight hours apart, when I come to see her it's like we were never apart to begin with.

This past week a took a short, but awesome trip to the beach with Shamri and her mom. I always make Sham model for me, but these photos are some of my favorites, so I wanted to share! Also, Shamris birthday is tomorrow! So happy birthday, lady. I love you more than you know. Thank you for being you and for putting up with me. I'd be lost without you.

So, the other day it snowed... in Louisiana! Not only that, but it STUCK. That's right! We had a couple of inches and everything was closed down :) I was a very very happy camper. I'm just now getting around to posting these, but enjoy anyways :)

Katie and I headed over to a local graveyard to grab a couple of shots in the snow and of some things I made for my new Etsy shop!

Inspiration

What inspires you? or who?

A lot of times I get "stuck" in creative ruts, where no matter how hard I try I can not get inspired. It could last an hour or months. Thankfully the longest I've gone is about a month or two. But there are SO many creative individuals out there that it's hard for me to stay in those ruts.

Here's a list of some people who inspire me:

Sarah Barlow

I had the chance to intern with Sarah Barlow in October. First of all, SHE IS NUTS! But in a good way of course. She is such an amazing person. You know how they say that certain people shine with Gods light? That's her! She lights up a room in .5 seconds! She is also an amazing photographer. Her images are breath taking and so original. I highly recommend that you check her out if you haven't already.

Elsie Flannigan

Elsie runs Red Velvet Art with three other crafty ladies! Her blog is always full of super inspiring posts, from fun colors to easy DIYs. I highly suggest that you follow her blog if you aren't already! This lady and the other girls of RVA have inspired me countless times.

Ben Blood

Ben Blood is an AMAZING photographer based in Seattle. I came across his website about a year ago. ALL of his images are amazing, every single one! I love that when I see a photo of his, I automatically know who took it without even seeing his name. I think it's important to have a solid style, and he definitely does! I always say that I want to have eight photographers at my wedding because I know I won't be able to make up my mind. He would be one of them for sure!

Britt Nicole

Britt Nicole is a Christian musician. I've never really been that big into "Christian music" just because I felt like it was all the same. But her songs are FUN! and uplifting! It's really good music to dance around to and just act crazy while still giving praise. You don't have to go to church to worship, just turn it up in your room and have fun!

There are so many more people/places who inspire me; my best friend, my family, Anthropologie catalogs, Lemon Jitters, New Orleans, Nashville, Once Wed, The Boudoir Divas, just to name a few :)

I recommend that you check out all of these people if you ever find yourself stuck in a rut :)

Hey everyone,
   Can you believe we are already past the first week into January? This past year has flown by. I've learned more this year than I have in my entire life, I've traveled, I've met people who I will NEVER forget, I've messed up, I've searched for God, I've been sad, I've been happy, I finally realized how to reach my dreams.
   With that being said I'm making this year all about me. I'm being selfish, because sometimes we have to be. I'm chasing my dreams, I'm searching for God even more, I'm working on my business, and I'm finding out who I really am. I'm finally applying to art school, which is a dream I've had for YEARS now! I never thought I'd be good enough, or that I could actually achieve this goal. But I am not giving up.
   I also launched my website on New Years day! I'd love it if you'd check it out. I'll be updating it with new and improved pictures all the time. So be sure to check back!
